Editing Logbook Entries
No extraction is 100% perfect on poor-quality cursive. When an entry doesn’t match what’s actually on the page, fix it here. The scanned image itself never changes, and every save creates a new version of the entry, so the earlier data sticks around.
You need the Officer or Manager role to edit entries.
Open an entry for editing
Section titled “Open an entry for editing”- Open a logbook and go to the page with the entry.
- Below the page image, find the entry and tap its three-dot menu.
- Tap Edit Entry.
Editable fields
Section titled “Editable fields”- Entry Date
- Tach Time HRS
- Total Time HRS
- Entry Text
- Technicians: Name and Certificate. Tap Add to add a technician. Tap the trash icon to remove one.
- Airworthiness Directives: AD Number, Last Compliance (Hours and Date), Next Due (Hours and Date), and Terminating AD. Tap Add AD to add a directive. Tap the trash icon to remove one. See View AD compliance details to check the FAA record for a detected AD number.
Save changes
Section titled “Save changes”- Make your changes.
- Tap Save.
Tap Cancel to leave without saving. If you have unsaved edits, tap Discard in the confirmation dialog to leave anyway, or Keep Editing to stay.
Choose the active version
Section titled “Choose the active version”An entry can have several versions: the original AirWrenchAI extraction, plus one for each edit. The active version is the one BetterPlane treats as current for that entry, and it is the only one that appears in search results.
- When you edit an entry, your edit becomes the active version.
- When you re-run the extraction, the new extraction does not replace the active version. It becomes active only when the entry has no active version yet.
To see an entry’s other versions, tap the clock icon in the entry’s header, to the left of the three-dot menu. A badge on the icon shows how many newer versions exist.
To make a different version active:
- Tap the entry’s three-dot menu.
- Tap Set as the Active Version.
Re-run the extraction
Section titled “Re-run the extraction”If an extraction came out wrong or failed, run it again from the page menu.
- Open the logbook and go to the page.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the page image.
- Tap Re-run Extraction.
- Tap Start to confirm. Extraction can take up to 30 seconds.
The result arrives as a new version. It does not replace the version you edited or set as active.
Delete an entry version
Section titled “Delete an entry version”- Tap the entry’s three-dot menu.
- Tap Delete this Version.
- Check that the details shown are for the version you want to remove.
- Type the confirmation word and tap Delete.
This deletes only that version of the entry. It does not delete the scanned page. To create a fresh version, see Re-run the extraction.
View AD compliance details
Section titled “View AD compliance details”AirWrenchAI automatically detects Airworthiness Directives (ADs) mentioned in an entry’s text. In BetterPlane, you can view the FAA record for a detected AD.
- Open a logbook and go to the page with the entry.
- Below the entry text, find the ADs Mentioned: card for the AD.
- Tap the card, or its View AD chip.
The sheet shows the FAA record. Tap the share icon to share it, or tap Open AD in FAA DRS to open the full record in your browser.
A card labeled “No AD Number” does not open.
