Managing Your Subscription

A hangar’s subscription covers everyone in it, not just the person who paid for it. This page shows you where to check the plan, who can start or renew it, and how billing works. Billing and cancellation happen through the App Store, Google Play, or Paddle (for web app purchases), not inside BetterPlane.

  1. Open the hangar.
  2. Tap the settings icon to open Hangar Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Subscription Details section.

You need the Officer or Manager role to see this section. Members do not see it.

The section shows the current plan, the maximum aircraft allowed (if the plan limits it), and the renewal or expiry date. If the hangar has no subscription information yet, it shows “No subscription information available.”

A hangar with no active subscription shows a banner on the hangar screen.

  1. Open the hangar.
  2. Find the banner near the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Subscribe.
  4. Complete the purchase in the screen that opens.

You need the Officer role to subscribe a hangar for the first time. A Manager sees a message to contact a hangar officer instead. A Member sees a message to contact their hangar manager.

If you try to open an aircraft in an unsubscribed hangar, a Subscription Required dialog opens instead. Tap Subscribe there to start the same purchase flow.

When a subscription expires, access restricts in two stages:

  • First 14 days: everyone in the hangar can still view aircraft, logbooks, and records, but nothing can be changed. The banner on the hangar screen shows how many days remain.
  • After 14 days: aircraft access is blocked until the subscription owner re-subscribes.

A lapsed subscription does not immediately delete your records. Re-subscribing restores full access.

When a subscription lapses, the hangar screen banner changes to a Re-subscribe button. The same button can also appear in Hangar Settings > Subscription Details.

  1. Open the hangar.
  2. Tap Re-subscribe in the banner, or in Hangar Settings under Subscription Details.
  3. Complete the purchase in the screen that opens.

Only the person who originally subscribed the hangar can re-subscribe it, whatever their current role. The App Store and Google Play tie a subscription to the account that bought it, and BetterPlane applies the same rule to web purchases for consistency. If you are not that person, the banner and Hangar Settings tell you to contact the subscription owner.

If aircraft access is blocked because the subscription lapsed, a Subscription Expired dialog opens when you try to open an aircraft. The subscription owner sees a Re-subscribe button there too.

  1. Open the hangar.
  2. Tap the settings icon to open Hangar Settings.
  3. Scroll to Subscription Details.
  4. Tap View Customer Center.

You need the Officer role, and you need to be the subscription owner, to see the View Customer Center button.

What opens depends on how the hangar subscribed:

  • A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play opens the Customer Center. From there you can cancel, change plan, or request a refund through the store.
  • A subscription bought on the web app opens the Paddle billing portal in your browser instead.
  • If no billing link is available yet, a dialog asks you to contact support.

BetterPlane cannot cancel a store subscription for you. Cancellation always goes through the App Store or Google Play once the Customer Center or billing portal opens.

BetterPlane has no separate change-plan screen inside the app. Every upgrade path opens the same destination as View Customer Center above: the Customer Center for a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, or a billing portal in your browser for a subscription bought another way.

You reach that destination from three places:

  • Hangar Settings > Subscription Details > View Customer Center, described above.
  • The capacity sheet for a hangar marked At capacity, using its Upgrade button. See Adding an Aircraft.
  • The Subscription Active dialog shown while adding an aircraft, using its Manage Subscription button. See Adding an Aircraft.

For plan options and what each one includes, see BetterPlane Pricing.

Re-subscribing follows the subscription owner, not the role. Ownership survives a role change, so a former Officer who bought the subscription can still renew it.

A Manager or Member who cannot act sees a message pointing them to the next person: Managers to a hangar officer, Members to their hangar manager. When a lapsed subscription needs renewal, the message points to the subscription owner.

Q: I am a Manager. Why do I not see a Subscribe button? A: Only an Officer can start a hangar’s first subscription. Ask a hangar officer to subscribe, or contact support if none is available.

Q: I am an Officer, but I still cannot re-subscribe. A: Only the original subscription owner can renew a lapsed subscription. Ask them to re-subscribe, or contact support.

Q: Where do I cancel my subscription? A: Tap View Customer Center in Hangar Settings. Cancellation happens through the App Store or Google Play, not inside BetterPlane.

Q: The app shows no subscription, but I was already charged. A: Follow Re-subscribe after expiration. If the subscription still does not show, contact support.
